Karate kid: Blanket Jackson practises his moves as he leaves his martial arts lesson in California yesterday

Quiet: Eldest sibling Prince is said to avoid talking about his late father but his aunt La Toya claims he suffers from vitiligo too

Wannabe startin' somethin? Blanket grabs his rumoured brother Omer Bhatti around the neck and leads him out of the karate centre

Dressed in their martial arts gear, it is clear that Michael Jackson's children are thoroughly enjoying their classes.

Prince Michael II, nicknamed Blanket, left his lesson yesterday with his brother and sister but was so pumped up that he continued to practise his moves on the way to the car.

The seven-year-old was grinning widely as he left the karate centre in Encino, California and laughed with 'secret son' Omer Bhatti.
Jackson's rumoured love child has been a constant companion to Prince, 12, Paris, 11 and Blanket since their father died.

Yesterday Blanket grabbed the tie around the 25-year-old's neck and danced out of the karate centre with Omer following him and smiling.

Paris and Prince were also at their class. Even though the centre caters exclusively for children and teens under 16, it seems Omer is allowed to join in.

The karate kids centre aims to 'inspire self esteem in every child' through martial arts and to teach the youngsters learning leadership skills and martial arts technique.

The children have been living with Jackson's mother Katherine at the family compound in Encino, California since their father's death in June.

Their aunt, La Toya Jackson, recently spoke of how the children are, finding it tough to cope with the loss of their father.

The 53-year-old said Prince Michael Jackson, the oldest of the children, is having the hardest time accepting the loss.
'Prince just doesn't want to speak about it,' she said. 'I do worry about him very much.''

She claims that he, too, suffers from vitiligo, the skin disease which Jackson had.

Blanket, seven, is also suffering from the separation.

'He is just a very sad, shy little boy,' she said. 'He cries - he really does cry. It's so painful for him. No one can bring his Daddy back and it hurts too much.'

But Paris is coping a little better and has posters of her father covering her walls.

'She's doing very well,' La Toya said. 'She thinks and talks about her father all the time.

Prince Micheal Jackson had become the new defacto family leader

-Prince Michael Jackson I emerged as a family leader during Michael Jackson's memorial service. He is pictured with sister Paris Michael Katherine Jackson.-

Michael Jackson's son, 12, appeared composed beyond his years at his father's memorial. And he has surfaced as a quiet leader inside his home, where workers respected him, even before his father's death.

He has spent the better part of his life sheltered, often wearing a mask to hide his face from the public's prying eyes. But after his father's unexpected death it has emerged that Michael Jackson's son, Prince Michael Jackson I had become the defacto family leader, according to at least one former Jackson family employee.

"Prince was usually the only one that would convey to me certain instructions when Mr. Jackson wanted to eat upstairs," he said. "I looked at him as a young man in a kid's body."

Another Michael Jackson chef Kai Chase, says when she was hired to accompany the "Thriller" singer to London for his comeback concert tour, it was Prince who personally made the request on behalf of his father.

Chase said Prince also was the first one Michael Jackson's personal doctor Dr. Conrad Murray, asked for when he found the singer unresponsive in his bedroom.

"I started preparing the lunch and then I looked at my cell phone and it was noon. About 12:05 or 12:10 Dr. Murray runs down the steps and screams, 'Go get Prince!' He's screaming very loud. I run into the den where the kids are playing. Prince runs to meet Dr. Murray and from that point on, you could feel the energy in the house change.," Chase told The Associated Press in an interview.

Yet with his siblings, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II, Prince is a typical preadolescent.

"They always had computer time. One thing they would always do is they would listen to Bill Cosby tapes. They would play games," Jones said. "Prince was working on a project that he was working on for the Guinness World Records."

Prince's paternal grandfather said the child now is spending a lot of time with his cousins.Joe Jackson said recently his grandson is an athletic youngster who enjoys his time at the family compound playing with his cousins.

"Prince, he's busy playin' football with the guys out there and baseball," Joe Jackson said. "And those kids about the smartest kids I ever seen, really. 'Cause that's what Michael put into them," he said of Michael Jackson's young children.

Prince's has come a long way from the days when masks shrouded his face from the world's view. His father never took Prince or his siblings on typical kiddie outings. There were no trips to popular children's restaurants or other children's birthday parties.

"He left the house one time in a red Toyota Prius. And they drove around for about four hours. Michael and the kids never got out of the car once. The bodyguard would pick up the ice cream or the pizza and then put it inside the car," said Ben Evenstad, a photographer and the head of National Photo Group.

While the seclusion of Prince's former life may be gone, a custody agreement about who will raise him and his siblings was reached Thursday.

After weeks of negotiations, mother Katherine Jackson and his ex-wife Debbie Rowe reached an out-of-court agreement that gives Katherine Jackson full, permanent custody of the pop icon's three children, while Rowe will be granted "meaningful visitation rights." A court still has to approve the deal.

With this agreement in place the Jackson children's lives will change even more, as Prince, Paris and the child nicknamed Blanket into adolescence under the care of Katherine Jackson.

LA court delays Michael Jackson's children custody hearing

Latest.

->Michael Jackson's ex-wife wants custody
->Court hearing delayed until next month

THE custody hearing for Michael Jackson’s children has been postponed by a court until next month.

Jackson’s mother, Katherine, will remain the temporary guardian of Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7 until the hearing.

The late pop star’s ex-wife plans to fight for custody of the two older children. was born to an unknown surrogate mother.

Ms Rowe, who was married to Jackson from 1996 to 1999, signed away her parental rights to her two children in 2001, describing Jackson as a “wonderful man... a brilliant father.”

However a Los Angeles judge reversed the order in 2004 after Ms Rowe cited concerns over publicity related to Jackson's prosecution for child molestation.

She later settled the case, reportedly securing visitation rights.

But lawyers for Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe have been in talks with representatives of Jackson's parents, and one report this week said the "Thriller" singer's sister, Janet, was also interested in raising them.

Jackson left his estate, valued at $500 million in an attachment to his will, to a family trust that benefits his children, his mother and charities.

Jackson said in his 2002 will he wanted his mother to care for the children if he died.

Rowe is the mother of the two eldest children, and she has made ambiguous comments to the media about seeking custody of the children after years of having minimal contact with them.

Her lawyers this week sued a woman who claimed Rowe was willing to accept millions of dollars in exchange for giving up her parental rights.

The biological parents of Jackson's third child, Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, have never been revealed.

The Aug. 3 hearing on the children will coincide with another hearing on Jackson's complex estate.

The coroner's report on the cause of the singer's death is still awaiting toxicology and other test results. His burial arrangements have not been announced.

Debbie Rowe Denies 'Selling' Jackson Kids, Says 'Hell No' to Taking Custody

Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe said "hell no" when discussing whether she wanted custody of her two kids, according to a series of bombshell e-mails made public this afternoon.

Rebecca White, a close friend to the woman, revealed to the syndicated TV show "Extra" several email exchanges and text messages she received from Rowe regarding the custody of Jackson's kids — Michael Jr. 12, and Paris, 11 — just days after the King of Pop's death.

"My lawyer is telling me I have to take some responsibility about the welfare of the children," Rowe wrote in a July 5 email to White. "Do I want the kids? Hell no. Does it look good for me to ask for them? Absolutely. I don't want to look like the woman who gave away her kids and just forgot about them."

"In one text message [Rowe], says, 'Just wait until [July] the 14th. Everything will be done after the 14th.' There's definitely going to be a secret deal. There's definitely going to be a settlement that's going to come out of this," said White.

The Post reported exclusively today that Rowe had cut a sickening $4 million deal to dump the kids. Rowe squeezed the money from her former mother-in-law, 79-year-old Katherine Jackson, in exchange for giving up her custodial rights, sources said.

A report in the New York Post that Rowe had agreed to "sell" her two kids for $4 million, meanwhile, was blasted as "unequivocally false" by Rowe's lawyer.

"No determination has been reached concerning custody or visitation, and Ms. Rowe has not accepted - and will not accept - any additional financial consideration," beyond the spousal support deal she signed with Michael Jackson, lawyer Eric George said, demanding a retraction.

Custody Hearing over Jackson's Children Postponed

A custody hearing for temporary guardianship of Michael Jackson's children scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled for July 20 at the request of Katherine Jackson and Debbie Rowe, according to court officials.

"All prior orders remain in full force and effect, with Katherine Jackson as temporary guardian of the children," according to a Los Angeles Superior Court statement released Friday afternoon.

Michael Jackson's kids – Prince Michael I, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II (Blanket), 7 – have been living with their grandmother, Katherine, and staying at her Encino, Calif., home since the death of the pop icon on June 25.

Rowe, who is the biological mother of Prince and Paris, has not filed a petition for temporary guardianship, says a courthouse spokesperson. Blanket's mother has never been identified.

Last week, Rowe's attorney Eric George, said, "The truth is that Debbie has not reached a final decision concerning the pending custody proceedings."

This came on the heels of Rowe telling her former attorney and close friend Iris Finsilver that she intended to pursue custody. "Frankly, she won't have to fight for them, " Finsilver told PEOPLE. "She is the children's biological mother. She loves her children."

But Jackson's mother, Katherine, was named the guardian of his three children in his will, which was revealed last week. A source close to the family says of the Jacksons: "They will fight."

Debbie Rowe to Seek Custody of Jackson Kids

Debbie Rowe, the mother of Prince, 12, and Paris, 11, spoke to her former attorney Iris Finsilver, who says, "She is going to be pursuing custody of the children."

Deborah Jeanne Rowe was Michael Jackson's dermatologist nurse. They got married in 1996 and divorced later in 1999. Rowe declared that she wanted Jackson to have the children as a "gift", so she gave up her parental rights, but from 2005, a family court case is under way regarding visitation rights. - Later the court turnover that decision.

Michael Jackson has yet another son, Blanket, apparently with a surrogate mother, born in the spring of 2002.
After the children were briefly seen in "Living with Michael Jackson" documentary, there were questions whether they are indeed Jackson's biological children, as they had no obvious African features about them.
Jackson has revealed that Blanket's mother was black.

The kids, along with a third child, Prince Michael II (Blanket), 7, whose mother is unknown, are in the temporary court-ordered care of Jackson family matriarch Katherine Jackson, 79, whom the singer named as guardian in his 2002 will. (Diana Ross was also named, in the event that Katherine is unwilling or able to care for the kids.)

Rowe earlier made her position clear in an interview with a Los Angeles television station, saying, "I want my children."

"I am stepping up," she told a reporter for Los Angeles station NBC 4 in a 90-minute phone conversation. "I have to."

Rowe also said she'd be willing to take custody of Blanket to keep the three children together, and she may seek a restraining order to keep her former father-in-law, Joe Jackson, away from her children.

Later, Rowe's current attorney left open the possibility that she could change her position. Calling her remarks to the TV station a "single snapshot of a single conversation," lawyer Eric George said, "Debbie has not reached a final decision concerning the pending custody proceedings."

"Frankly, she won't have to fight for them," Finsilver tells PEOPLE. "She is the children's biological mother. She loves her children."

Staples Centre , Michael Jackson tribute pixs, jackson childrens , An elegant balance between entertainment and eulogy

Balancing the delicate choices about entertainment vs. eulogy, the Michael Jackson memorial worked incredibly well as both without bowing to the expectations of either.
Tuesday's event as Staples Center was under a global microscope of fans, media and harrumphers, and few in the house -- and likely at home -- could argue its elegance, sense of purpose and breadth of emotions.

There was no glitzy entertainment in the interim, nothing really for the crowd to do. It was a surreal experience to be among 17,000-plus people sitting quietly for the first dozen minutes or so, until many felt comfortable talking among themselves.

Overall, there were many more smiles and laughs than tears during the two-hour-plus event. There also was a deliberate and noticeable lack of flash, again straddling that line between the showbiz so many craved and the sorrow so many felt.

Once the speakers and singers began, there was an unhurried pace -- far from the showbiz spectacle many expected, even assumed. A performance followed each eulogy, and the song choices mostly eschewed Jackson's huge hits for lesser-known material sung with a purpose.

Everyone who stepped to the podium seemed to have a singular purpose in their words. The Jackson family's pastor, Lucious Smith, offered words of comfort after loss. Queen Latifah spoke for the legions of Jackson's fans, recalling how she and her brother tried to master the Robot after buying the "Dancing Machine" 45. Kobe Bryant stressed the King of Pop's huge-scale humanitarian efforts.

Sharpton focused on Jackson as a bridge builder and a barrier smasher between races and cultures.

There was a little buzz in the room as he took the stage. The fiery orator seized the room immediately. "It was Michael Jackson who brought blacks and white and Latinos and Asians together," he boomed, earning one of the biggest cheers of the day.He also offered one of the event's best lines in any context. Speaking directly to Jackson's three children -- and likely to his many detractors -- he said, "Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy; it was strange what your daddy had to deal with."

The three most affecting speakers -- Berry Gordy, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Brooke Shields -- offered up very succinct and very different points about Jackson's life.
Shields gave a perspective with which few can really identify: the loss of innocence of a child star. Her remembrances of their laughing together and just being "two little kids having fun" were particularly moving, driving home the fact that Jackson never really had a childhood -- and won't get a chance at golden years either.

The performances ranged from outstanding to "thanks for coming out." Stevie Wonder began by saying, "This is a moment that I wished I didn't have to see coming." His soulful, sorrowful, heart-wrenching delivery of "They Won't Go When I Go" easily was the best of the day. At the other end of the spectrum, Mariah Carey made a number of missteps during her version of the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" early on.

The service had an undeniably Christian tone, which might raise a few eyebrows because of Jackson's high-profile conversion to Islam. But the service worked on so many levels: memorial and entertainment, mourning and celebration, remembrance and farewell. And after a finale of "We Are the World" that featured a stage packed with performers, the Jackson family was alone onstage.

Jermaine and Marlon lamented the loss of their brother, but it was Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris, who left the crowd -- and the world -- with the most moving words of the ceremony.

"Ever since I was born," she began, sobbing and barely mustering the strength to speak, "Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just want to say I love him so much."

The wave of emotion washed over the room, with many audibly crying. It was an incredibly affecting end to an alternately somber and joyous day.
